Union Minister and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of inciting revenge politics during a recent address in Kolkata. In his letter, Majumdar claims that Banerjee "shamelessly incited" a gathering at a Trinamool Congress (TMC) event, urging them to "do what needs to be done," which he interprets as a call for revenge.
"This is nothing less than a blatant endorsement of revenge politics from the highest office in the state," Majumdar wrote, expressing concern over the implications of such statements. He urged Amit Shah to take prompt and decisive action to protect the citizens of West Bengal and uphold the constitutional values of the nation.
Majumdar's letter follows his earlier appeal to West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, in which he demanded the release of students detained during their protest march to the state secretariat on Tuesday. The protest was part of a larger 12-hour Bengal bandh called by the BJP in response to police action against the students, who were demanding Mamata Banerjee's resignation.
The TMC event where Banerjee made the controversial remarks was dedicated to the memory of the trainee doctor who was recently raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, a tragedy that has sparked widespread outrage across the state.
